How to update ReadyNAS firmware? ›

Select System > Settings > Update. Click the Check for Updates button. If no firmware update is available, or if the system is unable to properly check for updates, you are notified that your system is using the most current firmware.

USB Booting your ReadyNAS

On a rackmount unit, place the USB in any available port. Before powering on the device, press and hold the Backup (or Reset on Rackmount) button. Start the chassis and continue holding the Backup (or Reset on Rackmount) button for up to 15 seconds.

RAIDar is a software application that you use to discover ReadyDATA systems on the network. RAIDar is included on the Resource CD that came with your system. It includes versions for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. RAIDar is also available at www.netgear.com/readydata.

Most routers will have a “Manual firmware update/install” option under their firmware menu. Click this option. Upload the firmware file you downloaded from the “Support” page earlier, then click the “Install/update” button. Wait for the firmware to install.

Connect the USB flash drive to a USB port on the back of the system. If the system detects the USB flash drive, a prompt displays on the monitor to confirm that you want to update the software. If there's no input to the system, it automatically starts the update after a short delay.

If you have multiple ReadyNAS devices on your network, match the MAC Address of the system to the address listed on the back of your ReadyNAS device. If you are connecting a PC directly to ReadyNAS (and not through a network), first set a static IP address on your PC in the 192.168. 168.

Open a web browser and visit https://<hostname>. <hostname> is the name that you assigned to your ReadyNAS system or the default host name if you did not change it. Note: You can also enter https://<ReadyNAS IP address>, where <ReadyNAS IP address> is the IP address of the ReadyNAS.

100 means version 1. NAS means North America.
